(Yep… since Luxembourg is our home base, we figured we’ve earned the right to call ourselves “experts” here :D)
Welcome to Luxembourg, a small European country with lots of charm, culture, and some delicious vegan food! Since this is our home base, we’ve explored every plant-based corner, and in this guide to being vegan in Luxembourg, we’re sharing our favorite vegan restaurants, cafés, stores and community events.
A Short Introduction to Luxembourg
About the Country

Tucked between Belgium, France, and Germany, Luxembourg may be one of Europe’s smallest countries, but it’s full of charm, history and natural beauty. Despite having a population of less than 700,000 people, it is home to around 180 different nationalities! About 47% of its residents are foreigners, making Luxembourg one of the most multicultural countries in Europe. You can take a walk through the cobbled streets of Luxembourg City, hike through the Mullerthal (also known as “Little Switzerland”) or find castles and lots of quiet forests in the North of the country. And being vegan in Luxembourg is getting more and more exciting, thanks to a growing number of plant-based restaurants in and outside of the capital, as well as vegan cafés, local markets and a supportive vegan community.
Good to know: “Luxembourg” or “Luxembourg City”?
Indeed, it can get a bit confusing! Luxembourg is both the name of the country and the name of its capital city. Here’s a quick clarification:
- Luxembourg (country): The small country nestled between Belgium, France, and Germany. It’s full of forests, hiking trails, castles and charming towns.
- Luxembourg City: The capital of Luxembourg, known for its UNESCO-listed old town, historic fortifications, and interesting mix of history and modern life.
In this guide, we’ll specify when we mean the city – otherwise, just assume we’re talking about the country as a whole. 😉
Good To Know
Languages
Luxembourg has three official languages – Luxembourgish (Lëtzebuergesch), French and German. Most locals speak all three, and English is commonly spoken, especially in Luxembourg City and tourist areas.
Currency
The currency in Luxembourg is Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s handy to have some cash for local markets.
Prices
Luxembourg can be relatively expensive. As a rough guide:
- Coffee: €3–4
- Vegan meal at a casual café: €12–18
- Budget accommodation: €25–40 (hostel bed), €80+ (hotel room)
Vegan-Friendly Cities
While Luxembourg City offers the widest range of vegan options, you’ll also find plant-based dishes in places like Esch-sur-Alzette, Echternach and Diekirch. Organic stores and farmers’ markets are common across the country.

All‑Vegan Restaurants in Luxembourg
Reed (Luxembourg City)
What? Burgers, Durums, Bouchées à la reine, Chili, Wraps, Salads, French fries, Pastries
Where? 25, Boulevard Royal; 2449 Luxembourg

Reed is our personal little comfort spot, the place we head to after a day at work or before meeting friends for drinks. Located in the city center of Luxembourg with a cozy dining room on the first floor, it’s easy-going and inviting. The menu focuses on vegan adaptations of fast food and local classics, such as burgers, durums, bouchées à la reine, chili sin carne, boulettes liégeoises and wraps. But don’t let the term “fast food” mislead you: each dish is made with love and quality ingredients. The owners are both vegan themselves and you can feel the passion and dedication they have for the cause. Our personal favorites are the classical Joy Burger, the Bánh Mi Burger, and the comforting Bouchée à la reine – and if you get a chance to try one of their pastries (displayed at the entrance), you should totally go for it!
Nirvana Café (Luxembourg City)
What? Indian
Where? 1, Avenue de la Gare, 1611 Luxembourg

Nirvana Café is another place where you feel owner’s commitment for not only the vegan cause, but the community as a whole. They make a huge effort go keep their prices low and affordable and hand out free food to homeless people. The restaurant serves flavorful, authentic Indian food, such as curries, wraps, samosas, momos, bhajees, … and for drinks, we can recommend the delicious lassie!
Beet (Luxembourg City)

Beet started out as one of the first vegan burger spots in Luxembourg and has since grown into a well-known name within the local vegan community with a huge menu. Some classics are their signature burgers and the yummy mac’n’cheese, but they also offer a selection of changing seasonal dishes that are worth a try.
Rucolino (Dudelange)
What? Focaccia, Bombaccia, Pasta, Burgers, Hot wings, Desserts
Where? 15, Rue du Commerce, 3450 Dudelange

Rucolino is the first vegan restaurant to open in the city of Dudelange and a big recommendation from our side. Their only fault? Having an extensive menu with too many delicious, creative options 😀 Our personal fave is the Forestia focaccia, and we have a hard time NOT ordering it whenever we are there, but also the other meals never disappointed. If you still have space for it, make sure to order the tiramisu as a dessert!

This is the little sibling of the fancy Fields restaurant. For around 65€, you’ll get a multiple-course menu that offers the same fresh, local, high-quality products as the “real” restaurant. Although the price is still on the higher end, you’ll get excellent value for money, with beautifully creative dishes, a relaxed atmosphere and super friendly waiters. A visit here is not just about eating dinner, but about enjoying a full-on culinary experience.
Aal Echternoach (Echternach)
What? Classical local dishes
Where? 38, Place du Marché, 6460 Echternach
This charming restaurant offers a wide selection of creative vegan dishes, from burgers and pizza to lentil roast, gnocchi, curry, and pasta. They also organize occasional vegan brunches and a delicious vegan raclette during winter months.
Mesa Verde (Luxembourg)
What? Vegetarian dishes that can be turned vegan
Where? 11, Rue du St. Esprit, 1475 Luxembourg
Mesa Verde is like the OG of Luxembourg’s veggie scene, having served vegetarian dishes (along with fish) long before it became common in most restaurants. The menu has remained fairly consistent over the years, offering a handful of vegetarian options, most of which can be made vegan upon request. While the prices are on the higher side (€25–€30), each dish includes a generous starter salad (be sure to ask for vegan dressing, although they usually adapt it automatically when you order vegan). The restaurant has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful outdoor terrace that’s perfect in warmer months.
Café Miche (Diekirch)
What? Vegan-friendly brasserie and café with daily specials
Where? 8, Rue de Brabant, 9213 Diekirch
Café Miche is a charming little gem located in the heart of Diekirch. It’s known for its relaxed vibe and welcoming staff and surprises with a decent vegan choice. Though not exclusively plant-based, the café offers a variety of clearly labeled vegan options and regularly updates its menu with fresh, seasonal dishes. From time to time, they organize vegan brunches too! Café Miche is a great stop if you’re exploring the north of Luxembourg and looking for a place to have a yummy lunch or dinner, or simply a coffee break.
Chiche (Luxembourg City)
What? Lebanese cuisine
Where? 20, Av. Pasteur, 2310 Luxembourg

Chiche is a vibrant spot serving up authentic Lebanese street food with lots of vegan options. Falafel wraps, mezze platters, lentil stews or Fatteh (our favorite!) are just a few of the plant-based highlights. The portions are generous, and the flavors are rich and satisfying. But Chiche is more than just good food. The restaurant places strong value on social responsibility, playing an active role in community cohesion by offering jobs and training opportunities to migrants and refugees.
Kobe (Luxembourg City)
What? Sushi
Where? 4, Rue de l’Eau, 1449 Luxembourg
Although a bit more on the expensive side, Kobe is one of our fave places to head for vegan sushi. In addition to sushi, you’ll find vegan bowls and sides that round out the menu nicely.

Where? 29, Rue du Fort Elisabeth, 1463 Luxembourg

Kaito is a Japanese eatery offering ramen, side dishes and starters with several vegan options clearly marked. They don’t take reservations (except for groups over 8 people), so especially on weekends you should make sure to go early.
Cafés, Bakeries & Sweet Treats
Glow (Luxembourg City)
What? Breakfast options, Sandwiches, Bowls, Desserts, Juices, Smoothies
Where? 2, Rue Xavier de Feller, 1514 Luxembourg
We have to give a second shout-out to Glow here, because in addition to their lunches, they offer delicious house-made pastries, cakes and specialty coffees. It’s a great place for a takeaway snack or to settle in with a slice of cake and maybe even go for a second round 😉

Seed (Luxembourg City)
What? Vegan pastries, cakes, café, juices
Where? 5, Rue Chimay, 1333 Luxembourg
This fully vegan coffee place is the little sister of “Beet” restaurant and located in the same building. You’ll get a variety of juices, hot drinks, pastries and cakes. What we particularly like about the place is the opening hours until 9.30pm. There are not a lot of places in the city where you can satisfy your (fully vegan!) sweet tooth in the evening 😀 And if you’re craving something salty after your dessert? Just order off the Beet menu – there are no rules, and no judgement.
